Ahn Cheol-soo’s Bold Move: Uniting Chung, Su-do, and Cheong for a Healthier Korea – Can ‘Conviction’ Bring Medical Reform to the Forefront
A Call to Action: Ending Political Strife and Embracing a Brighter Future
The Need for Change in the National Assembly
Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, has spoken out about the current state of the National Assembly, emphasizing the need for a medical reform that respects the public sentiment of the middle class, metropolitan area, and youth. He believes that politics has disappeared from the National Assembly, and that political strife has intensified.
A Focus on the Future
Rep. Ahn stressed that the National Assembly and the government should prioritize preparing for the future. He noted that in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, science and technology have become the core of the issue of making a living. Ahn emphasized the importance of designing future industrial policies as a national strategy to create future food, jobs, and a scientific powerhouse.
Strengthening Key Industries
South Korea is excelling in secondary batteries, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI) robots, but Ahn believes that there is still a long way to go. He emphasized the need to focus on fostering industries and talent related to ‘system semiconductors,’ which are the weak link in the domestic semiconductor industry.
The Importance of the Fabless Industry
To strengthen system semiconductors, Ahn explained that the ‘fabless industry’ must be strengthened. The fabless industry is an industry that specializes in semiconductor design rather than directly producing semiconductor products. He noted that the fabless industry will play a key role in advancing future key industries.
Establishing an Institution for Semiconductor Research
Ahn advised that to solve the issue of the fabless industry, an institution to train specialized semiconductor researchers must be established. He compared the level of the fabless industry in Taiwan, the center of semiconductors, and South Korea, noting that the gap is falling further behind as time goes by.
