Ahsoka Season 2 Release Date Confirmed for Early 2027

The second season of the Disney+ series Ahsoka is scheduled to premiere in early 2027. This timeline marks a gap of at least three and a half years since the first episodes of the series aired in August 2023.

Rosario Dawson, who stars as the title character, confirmed the release window on May 12, 2026, during Disney’s upfront presentation. The specific reasons for the extended delay between seasons have not been disclosed.

While the wait is substantial, the industry has seen a trend among big-budget productions, such as those from HBO, toward longer intervals between seasons. Such gaps are often necessary to complete extensive post-production requirements.

The second season will continue the narrative of the Jedi and her allies as they investigate a mysterious neighboring galaxy and work to counter an invasion led by the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The focus on Thrawn follows the decision to scrap the fourth season of The Mandalorian. Lucasfilm has instead moved forward with The Mandalorian and Grogu as a theatrical feature film, raising questions regarding how much of the intended Thrawn storyline was shifted into the second season of Ahsoka.

Hayden Christensen is confirmed to return for further scenes as Anakin Skywalker. This follows his guest appearance in the first season, where he was featured via the extradimensional plane known as The World Between Worlds.

The production will also introduce a casting change for the character of Baylan Skoll. Rory McCann, an actor known for Game of Thrones, will take over the role following the death of Ray Stevenson.

The release of the new season comes amid a broader scaling back of live-action Star Wars television production by Disney. This reduction follows a period of high output with limited series such as The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, both of which received mixed reviews.

Other recent live-action efforts, including The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, also failed to make a significant impact, and no second seasons are planned for either of those series.
