Former Sequoia Partner Launches AI Scheduling Company, Backed by $5 Million Seed Round
Kais Khimji, a former partner at Sequoia Capital, announced Thursday the launch of Blockit, an AI-powered calendar-scheduling company. The company secured $5 million in seed funding led by Sequoia, signaling strong confidence in Khimji’s venture.
Khimji spent six years as a partner at Sequoia Capital. Prior to this, he began developing the concept for blockit approximately 10 years ago while a student at Harvard University.
According to a blog post published by Sequoia General Partner and Co-Steward Pat Grady, “Blockit has a chance to become a $1Bn+ revenue business, and Kais will make sure it gets there.”
Blockit differentiates itself from existing scheduling tools by utilizing large language models (LLMs) to automate scheduling more effectively than previous attempts. Companies like Clara Labs and x.ai,which previously attempted similar solutions, are no longer operational. The domain name x.ai is currently owned by Elon Musk’s AI company.
Unlike Calendly, currently valued at $3 billion as of January 26, 2021, which relies on users sharing availability links, Blockit is focused on its AI agents to handle scheduling.
