OpenAI’s recent report sheds light on the increasing malicious uses of artificial intelligence, revealing a landscape of cyber espionage, social engineering, and covert influence operations.the report underscores how AI is being leveraged by threat actors worldwide too amplify their reach and impact.
The investigation identified multiple sources of these abusive activities. A critically important portion appeared to originate in China, with other instances traced to Cambodia, the Philippines, Russia, and Iran.These operations employed diverse tactics, including deceptive employment schemes and comment spamming.
By using AI as a force multiplier for our expert investigative teams, in the three months since our last report we’ve been able to detect, disrupt and expose abusive activity including social engineering, cyber espionage, deceptive employment schemes, covert influence operations and scams.
