AI-Powered HX-2 Attack Drone Deployed in Ukraine
Helsing AI Unveils HX-2 Drone: A Game Changer in Autonomous Warfare
Finnish defense AI company Helsing has unveiled the HX-2, a revolutionary attack drone equipped with onboard AI that enables full electronic warfare capabilities and jamming resistance. The technology is already seeing action in Ukraine, marking a significant leap forward in autonomous warfare.
The HX-2 is an electrically powered, x-wing-shaped precision munition with a range of up to 62 miles. Its advanced onboard AI allows for full electronic warfare capabilities and jamming resistance, features developed and tested through Helsing’s extensive experience in Ukraine. When used as part of Helsing’s Altra reconnaissance/strike software, multiple HX-2s can be networked into swarms, controlled by individual human operators.
Designed for mass production, the HX-2 aims to offer lower unit costs compared to other systems. To meet this goal, helsing is ramping up production in Europe.
“Individual HX-2s can reliably attack armored targets in highly contested environments,” saeid Niklas Köhler, co-founder of Helsing. “When deployed at scale along borders,HX-2 can serve as a powerful deterrent against invading ground forces.”
Gundbert Scherf, co-founder of Helsing, added: “HX-2 offers autonomy through software and AI – while maintaining full human control and oversight. Electronic warfare threatened to undermine the ability to act decisively, and we are giving that power back to operators.”
AI-Powered HX-2 Drone: A New Era of Autonomous Warfare?
NewsDirectory3.com sat down with Niklas Köhler,co-founder of Helsing, teh Finnish defense AI company behind the HX-2,to discuss this groundbreaking drone technology already seeing action in Ukraine.
NewsDirectory3.com: Mr.Köhler, the HX-2 is being touted as a game changer in autonomous warfare. What sets it apart from existing drone systems?
Niklas Köhler: The HX-2 is an electrically powered, x-wing-shaped precision munition with a range of up to 62 miles. What truly sets it apart is its advanced onboard AI. This allows for full electronic warfare capabilities and jamming resistance, something we’ve been meticulously developing and testing through our extensive experience in Ukraine.
NewsDirectory3.com: How does this AI integration translate to real-world tactical advantages?
Niklas Köhler: Individual HX-2s can reliably attack armored targets in highly contested environments. When deployed at scale along borders, HX-2 can serve as a powerful deterrent against invading ground forces.
NewsDirectory3.com: We understand Helsing envisions these drones operating in swarms. Can you elaborate on how this would function?
Niklas Köhler: When used with Helsing’s Altra reconnaissance/strike software, multiple HX-2s can be networked into swarms, controlled by individual human operators. This allows for coordinated attacks and enhanced situational awareness.
NewsDirectory3.com: There are concerns surrounding the ethics of autonomous weapons. How does Helsing ensure human control and oversight in the HX-2 system?
Niklas Köhler: The HX-2 offers autonomy through its software and AI, but it maintains full human control and oversight. this ensures that critical decisions ultimately rest with human operators.
NewsDirectory3.com: what are Helsing’s plans for the future of the HX-2?
Niklas Köhler: We are committed to mass production of the HX-2 to offer lower unit costs compared to other systems. We are currently ramping up production in Europe to meet the growing demand for this revolutionary technology.
