The competition for elite artificial intelligence talent has reached unprecedented levels, with leading AI startups and established technology giants offering record-breaking compensation packages to secure machine learning experts.

Data from H-1B visa filings and industry reports indicate that base salaries for top engineers at firms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity are now reaching levels previously reserved for the largest technology corporations.

Record Base Salaries and Compensation

According to a Business Insider report based on Department of Labor filings, Anthropic has filed for salaries as high as $690,000 for senior technical hires, setting a new benchmark for the sector.

OpenAI’s highest base pay for technical staff is now set at $530,000, with the majority of senior roles commanding more than $400,000.
