Berlin, March 31, 2025 – A new survey indicates that many German companies are struggling to integrate artificial intelligence into their operations, leading to concerns about competitiveness and regulatory compliance.
AI Implementation: Pioneers Few, Laggards Many
According to a survey of 603 companies with at least 20 employees, only 10% consider themselves pioneers in AI adoption.The majority, nearly two-thirds (64%), view themselves as lagging behind, while 22% fear they have missed the opportunity altogether.
Bitkom President Dr. Ralf Wintergerst urged companies to take action. “Even those who have not yet dealt with AI should not put their heads in the sand. At Ki everything is in motion and it is indeed all about finding the start,” Wintergerst said. He also highlighted the challenges companies face, including “legal uncertainties, such as questions of data protection or the implementation of the AI Act.”
Wintergerst called for a shift in government policy, advocating for “less regulation and more innovation” to foster AI adoption.
