Physical education and sports enthusiasts witnessed an exciting turn of events at the Paris Tennis Championships, where Aikaras was eliminated in the top 16.
Aikaras, donning a blue shirt, faced off against host player Anba. Unfortunately, he was not in top form during the first set and was broken twice, resulting in a 6-1 loss. Despite his previous victories against Anba, Aikaras failed to replicate his success this time around.
However, Aikaras regained his composure in the second set, achieving an impressive “first serve” scoring rate of 92% in a single set. He created three break points in the fourth game, although he was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Undeterred, Aikaras successfully broke serve in the sixth game and won, equalizing the set at 6-3.
Regrettably, Aikaras committed three service faults in the final set and was unable to create another break point. Anba handled the key points better and secured a win with a super body ball. Anba seized the opportunity to break serve in the 12th game and won 7-5, defeating the world’s No. 2 Aikaras 2-1 in sets. Anba will now face Jordan Tomson in the quarterfinals.
In another exciting match, No. 10 seed Tsitsipas faced off against No. 29 Schlundulu. Despite losing the first set 1-7, Tsitsipas broke serve three times in the next two sets, winning 6-4 and 6-2 in a row. Tsitsipas advanced 2-1 in the set, securing his spot in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, world No. 3 Schwalif, wearing a blue jersey, faced French 20-year-old Fiss. After winning the first set 6-4, Schwalif lost the second set 3-6. However, he broke once in the middle of the deciding set and held on to three break points at the end, ultimately winning 6-3. Schwalif will now face Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.
