AIM Independent Music Awards Set for London Return This Fall
London will host teh Association of Independent Music’s (AIM) Independent Music Awards on Sept. 23. The event, marking its 15th year, will be held at the Roundhouse.
The awards spotlight independent artists, labels, and entrepreneurs, who account for a third of the U.K.’s recorded music market. Categories range from U.K. independent breakthrough to best independent remix and best live performer.
AIM Rightsholder members can submit entries for free until July 9.Non-members face submission costs,though discounts are available for organizations promoting diversity. Entry is free for the equity, diversity inclusion (EDI) champion, independent music champion, and music entrepreneur of the year categories. Details are available on the AIM website.
Awards not open for submission include outstanding contribution to music, the innovator award, and PPL award for most played new independent artist; AIM decides these in-house.
Tickets will be available later this summer. Last year, Sparks received the outstanding contribution to music award, and Neneh Cherry won the innovator award. Music Venue Trust was named independent music champion, and Drift Records secured the best independent record store award.
in 2025, AIM will reintroduce local music champions in collaboration with BBC Introducing, honoring those supporting their local music community.
AIM CEO Gee Davy said the awards celebrate talent and innovation in independent music and recognize those making a cultural impact.
The Independent Music Awards conclude AIM’s 2025 program, following AIM Connected, a conference for business leaders on Sept. 9 in Shoreditch.
