Air India Flight 171 Crash: No Survivors Expected in Ahmedabad
A reception center is being established at London’s Gatwick airport for relatives of those aboard Air India Flight 171, which crashed shortly after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, India. Local authorities report that there are likely no survivors from the Air India plane crash.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers and crew, sent a “mayday” signal before losing contact. The aircraft crashed near B J Medical College, reportedly striking a student dining hall. Medical students sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Civil Hospital Ahmedabad.
