Aira Technologies Raises $14.5 Million to Advance AI in Cellular Networks
Aira Technologies Secures $14.5 Million to Revolutionize Wireless Networks with AI
Silicon Valley startup aims to build the future of wireless dialog with AI-powered, self-learning networks
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Aira Technologies, a leading innovator in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to cellular network infrastructure, announced today it has raised $14.5 million in Series B funding. This investment will fuel the company’s mission to transform wireless networks through its AI/ML-based solutions, driving improvements in operating efficiency, energy consumption, and spectral utilization.
Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) face mounting pressure to keep pace with the explosive growth of data traffic while together reducing costs and unlocking new revenue streams. Aira’s data-driven, ML-powered approach promises to radically reimagine wireless design, deployment, and control, ultimately leading to more efficient and high-performing networks.
“The U.S. has a significant lead in GenAI/AI/ML,and it is indeed vital for the U.S. to maintain this lead,” said Jon Chait, General Partner at IQT, one of the investors in this round. ”The submission of AI/ML to communications—a crucial part of the national infrastructure—is both novel and necessary. Aira’s work spans both of these critically important segments, positioning them as a strategic investment prospect.”
Aira’s technology empowers MNOs to considerably enhance their radio access network (RAN) architecture and performance. This latest funding round will accelerate the development of Aira’s GenAI product roadmap, bringing the company closer to its vision of a fully autonomous, self-learning RAN – the network of the future.
Industry Recognition and partnerships
aira’s innovative solutions have already garnered significant recognition. this year, the company’s AI-based channel estimation and prediction platform, xApp, received the Telecom Infrastructure Project “Silver Badge.” In collaboration with Intel, aira also demonstrated an AI-based high-fidelity MIMO channel estimation and prediction technology, showcasing its potential to dramatically improve 5G MU-MIMO efficiency and throughput.
Further solidifying its position as a leader in the field, Aira recently launched Naavik, a GenAI platform that leverages advanced automation and natural language processing to transform network operations. naavik enables intuitive, conversational interactions with network data, reducing task times from months to days. This enhanced visibility, control, and automation across the RAN pave the way for fully autonomous networks.
“Our investment in Aira supports the ability to deliver more responsive and adaptive networks,” said Vikram Taneja, Head of AT&T Ventures. “We’re excited to be part of this effort to help drive the advancement of intelligent network innovation for the future of wireless communications.”
Cristina Rodriguez, vice president and general manager, Comms Solutions Group at Intel, echoed this sentiment: “We are excited about Aira’s approach to AI/ML and its potential for optimizing RAN performance and energy efficiency. Aira’s advanced technology, combined with Intel Xeon processors and Intel FlexRAN reference software, greatly simplifies AI/ML integration so operators can more quickly realize these performance and cost-of-ownership benefits.”
Aira’s CEO, Anand Chandrasekher, expressed his enthusiasm for the future: “Aira is laser-focused on enabling the telecommunication networks of the future. A fully autonomous, self-learning RAN is the next frontier, and we are hard at work to make this a reality for our customers. We are delighted to see our partners and customers believe in our vision and invest resources to support our momentum.”
