Aircraft Crash Deaths – Saint-Pons Ubaye Valley

It is a dramatic accident that occurred in the Ubaye valley. This Saturday, August 16, 2025, around 1 p.m., two aircraft crashed in the town of Saint-Ponsin the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

An airplane started his takeoff, with him a glider he was towing. For a still unknown reason, the plane has crash At the end of the track, the glider also crashed after him a hundred meters further, in the woods.

Inside each device was a septuagenarian. These two foreign nationals lost their lives. The plane was on fire when the departmental fire and rescue service for Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (Sdis04).

The gendarmes mobilized

Under the coordination of the operational center of Worthythe gendarmerie forces logically mobilized substantial resources, notably of the Barcelonnette company, faced with the situation.

Investigators from the Roissy BGTA Research Section, gendarmerie brigade dedicated to airport areas, were engaged as well as investigators from the Air Transport Research Section (SRTA) Marseilleto try to understand the scenario of this double crash.

The survey is logically coordinated by the SRTA which provides the link between the various services and works in partnership with the Office of Investigation and Analysis (BEA).
