The update, expected with the release of iOS 26 this fall, will allow users to leverage their AirPods for improved audio capture and remote photo and video operation on iPhones and iPads.
though, not all AirPods models will support these features. The enhancements are exclusive to AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, and AirPods Pro 2. Owners of these models can anticipate higher sound quality when recording audio, even in noisy environments, thanks to voice isolation technology. This betterment will also benefit voice calls.

The remote camera control feature allows users to take photos and videos remotely via the Camera app. A press-and-hold on the stem of an AirPod starts the capture,and another press-and-hold stops it. This functionality extends to third-party camera applications as well.
