Ryosei Akazawa, ⁢Japan’s top tariff negotiator, pledged to reporters Sunday to⁣ do ⁤everything possible before the anticipated meeting between prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and U.S. President⁢ Donald Trump.

Akazawa’s comments followed his return from Washington, D.C., where he concluded the fifth⁣ round of negotiations concerning the Trump management’s tariffs. The ⁤discussions occur ‍as Ishiba and‍ Trump may meet during the Group of Seven summit in Canada, ‍scheduled ⁢to begin June 15.
