AKMU Sets Record for Highest Cumulative Streaming by Mixed Duo on Melon

The sibling duo AKMU has established a new industry milestone, becoming the highest-streamed mixed-gender artist in the history of Melon, South Korea’s leading music platform.

According to data released by Melon’s music big data analysis service, Data Lab, on April 14, 2026, the duo reached a cumulative total of 2,536,170,000 streams as of March 30, 2026.

Streaming Milestones and Chart Performance

Since their debut in 2014, AKMU has released seven albums and four singles. Their commercial success is highlighted by the fact that seven of their tracks have surpassed 100 million streams each, a feat achieved by only 17 artists across the entire platform.

The duo’s most successful track is How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love, which has accumulated 448.39 million streams and 7.91 million unique listeners. This specific song demonstrated unprecedented longevity by remaining on the Melon Daily Chart for 1,046 consecutive days, ranking 15th all-time for endurance.

The track further gained cultural prominence after a recommendation from Nobel laureate Han Kang. This helped the song become the second most-liked song in the history of the platform with 494,000 likes, trailing only Spring Day by BTS.

Other significant hits contributing to their record include Last Goodbye with 179.92 million streams and their debut track 200% with 145.07 million streams.

Continued Commercial Success

AKMU has maintained their chart-topping presence into their second decade, with six different songs reaching the #1 spot on the Melon Daily Chart. This list of top-ranking tracks includes their collaboration NAKKA with IU and the song Love Lee.

Love Lee held the top position on the daily chart for a total of 60 days, which included a consecutive streak of 53 days.

The duo continues to release new material, having launched their fourth studio album, The Awakening, on April 7, 2026. The title track from this album, Joy, Sorrow, Beautiful Mind, has also reached the top of the charts.

Critical Recognition and Individual Stats

Beyond streaming numbers, AKMU has received significant critical acclaim. Their debut album Play and the album Sailing have both been designated as Melon Masterpieces.

The duo has also been honored at the Korean Music Awards, where they have won multiple awards including Song of the Year and Best Pop Album.
