Cairo, Egypt – Renowned Egyptian sports journalist Ahmed Schubert has revealed Al-Ahly’s enterprising plans for the upcoming transfer windows, hinting at a major squad overhaul ahead of next year’s revamped Club World Cup.
Speaking on a radio program Sunday, Schubert stated that Al-Ahly is targeting ”four strong new contracts,” wiht the bulk of the signings expected to occur during the summer transfer window.
“It’s very tough to buy players in January,” Schubert explained, “but the season is much easier [then].” He pointed to the shorter seasons in many top leagues, suggesting that quality players may become available in June.
Schubert emphasized that Al-Ahly is committed to securing permanent transfers, rejecting the idea of loan signings. “They told them, ‘I will sit out this tournament, and then when I come back to the local league, the Cup, and Africa, then I’ll keep playing with you guys,'” he said, highlighting the club’s desire for long-term commitments.
