The stakes have been raised for the Sept.13 clash between Canelo Alvarez adn Terence Crawford in Las Vegas. Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and president of the Saudi Boxing Federation, announced a knockout bonus for the undisputed super middleweight championship fight, wich will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Alalshikh revealed the bonus at the kickoff press conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He aims to discourage what he termed ”Tom & Jerry fights,” where one fighter avoids engagement.The KO bonus will be a feature of future fights he promotes, starting with Canelo vs. Crawford. The amount of the bonus and whether it applies to undercard bouts were not disclosed.
The concept mirrors UFC CEO Dana White’s use of performance bonuses.
Despite the high stakes, Alvarez and Crawford maintained a cordial but confident demeanor at the press conference.

Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) stated, “However I got to fight, I’m going to win. I won’t be running…But I will be doing a lot of touching.”
Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) dismissed any perceived difference in Crawford compared to his past opponents. “He’s not going to beat me,” Alvarez said. “Don’t worry about it…I’m a winner.”
Crawford, who is moving up two weight classes from 154 to 168 pounds, to challenge Alvarez, has secured knockouts in 11 of his last 12 fights. He aims to become the first male fighter to be undisputed in three weight divisions.
