The release occurred on April 11, 2026, following a court hearing at the Centro Integral de Justicia Penal de La Pila that lasted more than three hours. While the judge determined there was sufficient evidence to move the case toward a trial on charges of repeated family violence, Del Rio’s legal team successfully requested an alternative resolution.

The court approved a conditional suspension of the sentence, allowing Del Rio to be released from jail immediately. As a primary condition of this agreement, Del Rio paid 1,130,000 pesos—approximately $56,000 USD—as financial compensation to his wife.
The release was further facilitated by a legal pardon granted by the victim. However, the freedom granted to the former wrestler is not absolute; he remains under judicial supervision and must adhere to strict court-ordered requirements over the next six months.

Background of the Arrest
The legal proceedings began on April 6, 2026, when authorities responded to a report of domestic assault in the Lomas del Tec subdivision of San Luis Potosí. Upon arrival, officers observed visible injuries to the face and arms of Del Rio’s wife.
Following the report of physical and verbal assault, Del Rio was taken into custody at the scene and ordered into pretrial detention until the settlement was reached on April 11.

This incident is the latest in a series of legal challenges for the athlete. In 2020, Del Rio was arrested on charges of battery and sexual assault involving a former partner, though those charges were subsequently dropped.
