Alberto Fernández’s Investigative Statement Postponed Again
Former President Fernández’s Testimony in Domestic Violence Case Delayed Again
Buenos Aires, Argentina – Former President Alberto Fernández‘s highly anticipated testimony in a domestic violence case brought by his ex-partner, Fabiola Yañez, has been postponed onc again. The latest delay comes after a federal court in Buenos Aires scheduled a hearing for December 26th too address Fernández’s request to remove Judge julián Ercolini from the case.
This marks the second postponement of Fernández’s testimony. The initial hearing, scheduled for last Wednesday, was rescheduled to December 19th after Fernández’s legal team filed a recusal motion against Judge Ercolini.
The court, represented by Judge Eduardo Farah, decided to hear arguments from both sides before ruling on the recusal request. This means Fernández’s testimony will be further delayed until a decision is reached, likely pushing it beyond the start of the judicial recess in January.
fernández’s legal team, led by attorney Silvina Carreira, argues that Judge Ercolini cannot impartially preside over the case. They cite Ercolini’s previous rulings in the case and his alleged failure to adequately protect Yañez,the alleged victim.
Judge Ercolini, though, has rejected these claims, stating that his actions have been solely focused on protecting Yañez and ensuring a fair legal process. He maintains that there is no factual or legal basis for his recusal.
The case against Fernández involves accusations of minor and aggravated injuries, and also threats, all allegedly committed against Yañez. Prosecutor Ramiro gonzález, who has also been unsuccessfully targeted by a recusal motion from Fernández, is leading the examination.
This ongoing legal battle adds another layer of complexity to the already tumultuous political landscape in Argentina. The outcome of the recusal motion and the eventual testimony of former President Fernández will undoubtedly have significant implications for both individuals involved and the broader political discourse in the country.
