Swift Victory Over Darderi
Despite calling for a trainer during the second set of his match against Italy’s Luciano Darderi, Alcaraz quickly dispelled any concerns, securing a 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 victory in just one hour and 44 minutes. The Spaniard took a medical timeout where he received attention to his thigh.
Alcaraz later stated that the timeout was merely a precaution, explaining, “I just felt something that is not working good in the knee but after five, six points it was gone… I’m not worried about it.”
Adjusting to the Early start
Alcaraz admitted that the 11:30 a.m. start time was a notable change from his previous night matches. he focused on starting strong, stating, “It’s a schedule I’m not used to playing so my first goal was to start well, with a good rhythm. I think I did pretty well and after that just keep it going.”
Looking Ahead to Rinderknech Match
Alcaraz, who has yet to drop a set in the tournament, is set to face unseeded Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the next round. Rinderknech advanced after defeating fellow countryman Benjamin bonzi.
Bonzi had previously gained attention for his first-round victory over Daniil Medvedev, a match marked by Medvedev’s on-court frustration. However, Bonzi’s momentum waned against Rinderknech.
