Alejandro Burillo Azcárraga, a pivotal figure in Mexican football and sports development, has died at the age of 74. Burillo Azcárraga was widely recognized for his transformative role in modernizing Mexican sports through both football and tennis. As a member of the prominent Azcárraga family, he leveraged his business acumen to elevate sports into a structured, long-term industry. His most enduring contribution came through the founding of Grupo Pegaso in 1996, a conglomerate designed to treat sports as a diversified portfolio rather than isolated events.
