British star Keely Hodgkinson kicked off her outdoor season in sensational style, clocking a world-leading time of 1:42.22 in the women’s 800m. The Olympic silver medallist showcased her formidable form, leaving her rivals trailing in her wake. Max Burgin also impressed, securing third place with a personal best of 1:42.37, a time that elevates him to third on the all-time British list for the event.
Bol Wins Again in Dominant Fashion
World champion Femke Bol made it three wins in a row in London, demonstrating her class in the women’s 400m hurdles. While the wet track prevented any chance of a Diamond League record, Bol’s performance was still highly impressive. She secured victory by over a second, crossing the line in 52.10. USA’s Jasmine Jones finished second in 53.18, with Jamaica’s Andrenette Knight taking third in 53.79.
While the women’s 400m hurdles and 200m went according to expectations,the men’s sprint events served up some unexpected results.
Seville Sprints to Surprise 100m Victory
Oblique Seville exploded into an early lead in the men’s 100m and maintained his momentum to the finish line, winning comfortably in 9.86. Olympic champion noah Lyles, competing in his first 100m of the year, finished second in 10.00, just ahead of world bronze medallist Zharnel Hughes, who clocked 10.02.
Dobson Claims 400m Title in Personal Best
In the men’s 400m, Olympic silver medallist matt Hudson-Smith and world leader Zakithi nene were locked in a fierce battle down the home straight. Though, Diamond League champion Charlie Dobson surged thru in the closing stages to claim victory with a personal best of 44.14. Hudson-Smith held on for second place in 44.27, narrowly beating Nene, who finished third in 44.29.
Eisa Leads Deep 5000m Field
Ethiopia’s Medina Eisa emerged victorious in the women’s 5000m, leading an exceptionally deep field. Eisa clocked 14:30.57, finishing ahead of compatriot Fantaye Belayneh (14:30.90).Australia’s Rose Davies set an Oceanian record of 14:31.45 to secure third place.A remarkable 13 women finished inside the 14:40 mark, including Britain’s Innes Fitzgerald, who set a European U20 record of 14:39.56 in 12th position.
Hunter Bell Takes Women’s 800m
Elsewhere on the track,Olympic bronze medallist Georgia Hunter Bell produced a strong finish in the women’s 800m to win in a season’s best of 1:56.74. USA’s Addison Wiley finished second in 1:57.43.
