Syrian security authorities have categorically denied reports circulating on social media alleging that public security personnel in the city of Al-bab, located in the Aleppo countryside, assaulted ⁤a popular singer. Security Forces Address “Systematic Disinformation Campaigns“

A spokesperson for the security authority stated, “We categorically deny what is circulating on communication⁣ sites about a popular singer being assaulted by the ⁣public security personnel in the city⁤ of Al-Bab in Aleppo countryside, and no security authority has to do with the⁢ mentioned incident.”

The spokesperson further ‍elaborated on the challenges faced by the association, noting, “We face many systematic⁣ disinformation campaigns that aim to⁢ distort the picture of General Security. we⁤ practice our work transparently, and if there is a mistake, we apologize ⁣and hold accountable, but ⁣we will not be silent about lies and fabricated⁤ charges.” This highlights a commitment to accountability while also pushing back against what they describe as purposeful misinformation.

Unpacking the ‍Allegations ⁢and Counter-Narratives

Information that spread across several Facebook pages suggested a variety of reasons for the ‍alleged incident. Some claims linked the event to “charitable support for the former president’s regime,” referring to Bashar al-Assad. Conversely, other accounts indicated that the ⁢incident stemmed from the singer’s refusal to perform songs that did not align with the⁣ perpetrators’ beliefs.

Visual evidence, in the form of ⁢video clips, purportedly showed a group of individuals shaving the hair of a person described as having a “charitable face.” The clips also reportedly captured the group directing insulting phrases at the individual and forcing him to repeat expressions in support ⁢of the transitional authority.

Activists on⁢ the ground reported‍ that the ‍alleged incident occurred during a wedding ceremony.According to their accounts, a group of young men interrupted the festivities, apprehended the singer, and subsequently assaulted him. The details surrounding the event remain contested, with⁢ the official statement from the security forces directly refuting any involvement.
