Alex Condon Withdraws from NBA Draft, Returns to Florida Gators

Alex Condon, the Australian standout, has announced he will withdraw from the 2025 NBA draft and return to the University of Florida for his junior year. Condon, a key component of the Gators’ national championship team, made the announcement Tuesday.
“It’s a really good situation waiting for me ther,” Condon said, citing coach Todd Golden and his teammates. He also noted the arrival of a strong transfer class and the return of his big man coach, Carlin Hartman.
Ranked as the No. 38 prospect by ESPN, Condon’s return substantially boosts florida’s chances for another championship run. Last season, he averaged 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game, earning third-team All-SEC honors.
Condon played a pivotal role in Florida’s championship victory over Houston, contributing 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. His late-game hustle, diving for a loose ball, sealed the 65-63 win.
Before focusing on basketball, Condon, who is from Perth, Australia, played Australian rules football, cricket, and water polo. he began playing organized basketball at 16.
“My parents put me in a lot of sports,” Condon said,adding that football helped him develop toughness. he credited coach Golden for giving him an opportunity as a freshman.
Condon spent five weeks in California preparing for the draft, working out for eight NBA teams. He said the experience helped him improve his game.
“I learned a lot about myself,” Condon said. “My jumper has improved immensely wiht how much work I’ve put into that. my overall offensive package will be on display more at Florida next season.”
With Condon’s return, along with starting center Rueben Chinyelu and Thomas Haugh, Golden’s team is poised for a strong season. The Gators have also added top guards Xaivian Lee, Boogie Fland and AJ Brown thru the transfer portal, plus highly-rated recruits CJ Ingram and Alex Lloyd.
