Alex G and Paul Buchanan Score Jane Schoenbrun’s ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’

Indie rock singer-songwriter Alex G is composing the score for Jane Schoenbrun’s upcoming film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, marking his third collaboration with the director. This time, he’s joined by Paul Buchanan, the frontman of the iconic Scottish band The Blue Nile.

Schoenbrun announced details about the film, starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, via a post on social media February 13, 2026. The cast also includes Amanda Fix, Eva Victor, Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kevin McDonald, Patrick Fischler, and Arthur Conti, Dylan Baker, Quintessa Swindell, Jess McLeod, Louise Weard, Avalon Fast, Willy McGee, and Hunter Dillon.

This collaboration represents a significant moment for Buchanan, who has been relatively quiet since releasing his 2012 solo album, Mid Air, with the exception of co-writing a track with Jessie Ware in 2017.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma centers around a young director tasked with rebooting a fictional slasher franchise. The plot takes a turn when she becomes captivated by the original film’s “final girl,” leading both women into “a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium,” according to the film’s synopsis.

Schoenbrun described the film as her attempt to create “the ‘sleepover classic’: an insane yet cozy midnight odyssey that beckons to unsuspecting viewers from the horror section at the local video store.”

Alex G previously composed the scores for Schoenbrun’s critically acclaimed films We’re All Going to the World’s Fair (2021) and I Saw the TV Glow (2024), establishing a strong creative partnership between the director and the musician.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is scheduled for theatrical release on August 7, 2026.
