Alex Palou Unveils 2024 Indianapolis 500 Ticket | Indy 500 News

February 25, 2026 David Thompson - Sports Editor Sports

FISHERS, IN – Four-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou officially unveiled the ticket design for the 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Tuesday, February 24th, at K1 Speed in Fishers, Indiana. The event marked a ceremonial passing of the torch, recognizing Palou’s dominant victory in the 2025 race and his role as the face of this year’s “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

Palou’s triumph at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last May, piloting the No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, was historic. He became the first driver from Spain to win the Indy 500, a feat that earned him a place on the coveted Borg-Warner Trophy. The tradition of the winning driver unveiling the ticket design for the following year’s race dates back to 1948, when Mauri Rose received the honor.

The unveiling itself was a carefully orchestrated event. Palou received a special delivery via DHL, opening the packaging to reveal an enlarged version of the vibrant ticket. The design features a dynamic image of Palou celebrating atop his car in Victory Lane, capturing the raw emotion of his first Indy 500 win. “I always had to sign the ticket as a driver, and I always wanted to be on the ticket,” Palou said. “It’s amazing. I love it. It was probably the coolest day of my life, and wait to see it on a small scale all around IMS. It’s going to look good.”

The ticket’s design, created in-house by Senior Art Director Mandy Walsh, isn’t simply a celebratory image. It’s a visual representation of the race’s broader significance. The design incorporates an overhead shot of Palou’s car crossing the Yard of Bricks, the iconic finish line at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Beyond the racing action, the ticket also includes a patriotic theme, honoring the nation’s military and commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Palou’s 2025 victory was a testament to his consistency and skill. He secured his fifth win in six NTT INDYCAR SERIES races that season, building a commanding 115-point lead in the championship standings. While the championship is a significant accomplishment, Palou emphasized the unique importance of the Indianapolis 500. Without a win at Indy, he stated, his career would feel incomplete.

The 2025 race itself was dramatic, concluding under caution after rookie Nolan Siegel crashed on the final lap. Palou had already taken the lead on lap 187, passing Marcus Ericsson, and was poised for victory when the caution flag came out. The win solidified his place among the sport’s elite and cemented his legacy as a driver capable of conquering any track, including the challenging oval at Indianapolis.

Chip Ganassi, Palou’s team owner, recognized the magnitude of the victory. “It’s going to make Alex Palou’s career, it’s going to make his life, and it certainly has made mine,” Ganassi said following the race. The win wasn’t just a triumph for Palou and Ganassi Racing; it was a milestone for Spanish motorsports, opening doors for future generations of drivers.

Looking ahead to May 24th, Palou will attempt to defend his title in the 110th Indianapolis 500. The race, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET, will be broadcast live on FOX, FOX One, FOX Deportes, the FOX Sports app, and the INDYCAR Radio Network. The Month of May, a tradition steeped in history and pageantry, will feature a series of events leading up to the race, offering fans a comprehensive experience.

Tickets for the Indy 500 and all Month of May activities are currently on sale at IMS.com. Fans can also purchase tickets by calling the IMS Ticket Office at 317-492-6700 or visiting the ticket office in person. The anticipation is building for another thrilling edition of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” with Alex Palou poised to lead the field once again.

The unveiling event in Fishers served as a reminder of the Indianapolis 500’s cultural impact, extending beyond the racetrack and into the surrounding communities. The partnership with K1 Speed, a local entertainment venue, underscores the race’s commitment to engaging with fans and fostering a sense of excitement throughout the region. As Palou prepares to defend his crown, the focus now shifts to the months of preparation and competition that lie ahead, culminating in another unforgettable race day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
