four trailblazers of women’s football in the United States have been enshrined in the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) Hall of Fame for 2024. Alex Scott MBE, now a familiar face on BBC’s football coverage, was a dominant force in the early days of the WSL. during her 12-year tenure with Arsenal, she amassed an impressive 21 trophies, including four Women’s League Cups, seven Women’s FA cups, one WSL league title, and a UEFA Women’s Champions League title, scoring the winning goal in the final.
Scott’s impact extends far beyond the pitch. she has become one of the nation’s most respected broadcasters, breaking barriers as the first female pundit on Sky Sports Super Sunday, the first female presenter on Football Focus, and the first female commentator for the BBC at a men’s FIFA World Cup.
Steph Houghton MBE: A Captain’s Legacy
Steph Houghton MBE,a name synonymous with English women’s football,enjoyed a decorated career with both Arsenal and Manchester City.

Rebecca Welch made history as the first female official to oversee a Premier League, EFL, and men’s FA Cup fixture.Her impressive career also includes officiating at major international tournaments like the 2022 UEFA Women’s EUROs, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the 2024 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final.
