San Martín secured its place in the final after a highly contested semifinal series against Universitario de Deportes. The matchup between the two clubs was characterized by extreme parity, with each team winning one of the first two matches, which necessitated a third and decisive extra game.

San Martín’s Path to the Final

The decisive third match between San Martín and Universitario was a closely fought battle that ended in a 3-2 victory for San Martín. The set scores were 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 18-25, and 15-13.

During the fifth and final set, Universitario held a significant lead of 12-8. However, San Martín reacted to close the gap and eventually won the set 15-13 to clinch the series. According to reporting from Infobae, the San Martín team is led by coach Guilherme Schmitz, who was credited with managing the pressure during the key moments of the match.

This victory marks the return of San Martín to the title definition of the Peruvian league after two seasons.
