Alijah Arenas Details Tesla Crash, Induced Coma

Los angeles-Southern California basketball prospect Alijah Arenas, son of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, spoke Tuesday about the April car crash that resulted in him being placed in an induced coma.The USC recruit described a harrowing experience after his Tesla Cybertruck crashed into a tree.

Arenas recounted the immediate aftermath, saying he was disoriented and quickly became panicked as smoke filled the vehicle’s cabin and the doors malfunctioned. “I was fighting time,” Arenas said at the news conference.

according to Arenas, the Cybertruck’s keypad and steering wheel were unresponsive following the single-car accident. He awoke to flames on the passenger side of the dashboard and found himself locked out when he tried using his digital key.

Arenas said he then moved to the back seat, attempting unsuccessfully to break a window. He poured water on himself to combat the heat and spent nearly 10 minutes inside the burning vehicle.he managed to break the driver’s side window and escape, falling into water from a broken fire hydrant as bystanders assisted him.

Following the accident, Arenas spent six days in a hospital. He did not sustain major injuries.
