Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker will miss the club’s upcoming fixtures against Manchester City in the FA Cup and Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The Brazilian international is dealing with a long-term injury that is expected to keep him sidelined until towards the end of the season.

The absence of the No. 1 goalkeeper comes during a critical period for the Reds as they compete in the final stretch of the campaign across multiple competitions.

Alisson’s Injury Timeline

Alisson’s availability has been inconsistent in recent weeks. He previously missed a Champions League trip to Galatasaray after sustaining an injury during a training session.

While he returned to the starting lineup for a Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur and the second leg of the tie against Galatasaray, he was subsequently removed from the squad on the eve of a Premier League trip to Brighton prior to the international break.

Speaking at a press conference on April 3, 2026, ahead of the clash with Manchester City, Arne Slot ruled out the goalkeeper’s immediate return.

He will not be part of the PSG game either, (he is) out for a bit longer. Towards the end of the season we expect him to be fit.

Arne Slot

With Alisson unavailable for the forthcoming matches, Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to continue as the starting goalkeeper for Liverpool.

Returns for Salah and Isak

Despite the setback regarding Alisson, Slot provided positive updates concerning the availability of Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak.

Mohamed Salah is fit and available for selection for the match against Manchester City on April 4, 2026, after missing the previous defeat at Brighton.

Salah’s return to the squad follows the announcement that the Egyptian forward will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

Alexander Isak has returned to full training after recovering from a broken leg sustained in December.

Isak returned to training on April 2, 2026, after a period of 101 days on the sidelines.

Slot urged caution regarding Isak’s immediate role in the team, stating that it would be too soon to expect the forward in the starting lineup.
