Yugra Defeats HK Norilsk 2-1, Takes 1-0 Series Lead
Yugra secured a 2-1 victory over HK Norilsk in a hard-fought match, taking a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven series.
Following the game, coaches reflected on the intense battle.
We expected a game like this,we knew there would be a lot of battles. The guys understand the need to be ready for these moments, because nobody wants to concede. We lost the first game, and of course, we wanted to win today. There were scoring chances at both ends. We need to be more disciplined and avoid needless penalties. We will improve in that regard as the series progresses.
Vladimir Gusev, Head Coach, HK Norilsk
I congratulate our fans on the victory! It was a good, combative game, and I expect more of the same in the playoffs. We were ready for a physical battle, and I’m glad we took the first step towards the semifinals. We will continue to prepare. The second period was a bit chaotic with shift overlaps, which affected the number of shots. We are trying to focus on puck control to spend more time in the offensive zone.

magnitogorsk Edges Dynamo St. Petersburg 2-1, Leads Series 1-0
In St. Petersburg,Magnitogorsk defeated Dynamo by a score of 2-1,seizing a 1-0 advantage in their quarterfinal series.
coaches shared their perspectives after the close contest.
We liked the game; Dynamo is a good opponent. They play an attacking style, so we needed to be attentive throughout the game. There were mistakes, but itS just the beginning of the series, so we will correct them. We are preparing for the next game.
Evgeny Polozov, Head Coach, Magnitogorsk
I have mixed feelings about the game. I’ll probably review the match tonight or tomorrow morning. It seemed like the game was there for us to take: we moved well, moved the puck well, transitioned out of our zone and into theirs. But we didn’t create enough quality scoring chances. This is a recurring problem for us. Our forwards don’t seem to be heeding the coaching staff’s instructions to play more aggressively and create problems for the opposition. Unfortunately, some of our attackers just don’t seem to understand this. And as of that, the few good chances we did create, we finished poorly, which is a shame. We had a moment in the third period, and a couple in the second… As I often say, we need to score at least three goals to win consistently. When we only score one, it’s very difficult. You can win 1-0,of course, but that’s more like football than hockey.
