Alofi’ana Khan-Pereira has found a renewed sense of professional satisfaction and on-field success since joining the New Zealand Warriors. The 24-year-old winger, who previously struggled with morale and playing time at the Gold Coast Titans, is now thriving under the guidance of coach Andrew Webster.

The transition marks a significant turnaround for Khan-Pereira, who described his time with the Titans as troubled. Despite a prolific record of scoring 53 tries in 54 games for the Gold Coast club, the winger faced a difficult final season in 2025.

During that 2025 campaign, Khan-Pereira fell out of favor with then-coach Des Hasler. His struggles were compounded by hamstring issues and a lack of consistent selection, as Hasler frequently preferred other players, including Jojo Fifita, Allan Fitzgibbon, and Jaylan de Groot.

The environment at the Titans was further strained by the team’s poor performance on the ladder. The club battled to avoid the wooden spoon and eventually finished the season in 16th place, a result that Khan-Pereira says deflated him.

Speaking to AAP, Khan-Pereira reflected on the mental toll of losing streaks and the atmosphere at the club during that period.

It was pretty self-explanatory [at the Titans]. We were where we didn’t want to sit on the table. It is tough losing, you don’t fall out of love for the game but you don’t come to training smiling, do you? It’s heavy. If you don’t win, it’s a different training session on Monday.

The Gold Coast Titans eventually released Khan-Pereira from the final year of his contract, allowing him to move to the Warriors. While the move provided a fresh start, the beginning of 2026 did not bring immediate game time, as the winger initially struggled to break into the Warriors’ lineup.

The situation shifted when Roger Tuivasa-Sheck moved to the centres, a tactical adjustment that created a vacancy on the wing. Khan-Pereira seized the opportunity, scoring doubles in three of four games since securing the position.

Observers have noted a contrast in coaching styles between the two clubs. The calmer presence of Andrew Webster has provided a change of pace compared to the approach of the two-time premiership-winning Des Hasler, who has since been axed from his role at the Titans.

Khan-Pereira has expressed deep gratitude for the move to New Zealand and the support of his new teammates, who have reportedly been surprised by the accounts of his experiences at the Gold Coast.

I just got out of there [Gold Coast] in a place I didn’t really want to stay at. Bigger and better things here, I don’t regret it at all. I love New Zealand and I’m loving the boys… I’m just so happy and still got a big year ahead of us.

The winger’s current form suggests a return to the scoring efficiency he displayed during his early tenure with the Titans, now supported by a more positive psychological environment and a coaching structure that favors his speed and ability.
