Alpharetta Teen Airlifted to Tallahassee Hospital With Critical Injuries

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on State Road 65. Investigators report that for unknown reasons, the vehicle carrying four people crossed into the northbound lane and ran off the east shoulder, where it struck a tree and caught fire.
Victims and Injuries
The driver, an 18-year-old male from Alpharetta, Georgia, and two passengers, a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old girl both from Cumming, Georgia, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A fourth passenger, a 17-year-old girl also from Alpharetta, was rescued from the front right seat by witnesses before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. She was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries.
Officials have not yet released the identities of the teenagers involved. The group was reportedly in Florida for Spring Break.
Emergency Response
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County EMS, and the Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department. Franklin County Sheriff AJ Smith noted that a portion of Highway 65 was closed for several hours while emergency crews worked the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
