Accessing traditional bank credit has become out of reach for many small and medium-sized enterprises in Argentina due to stringent requirements, high commissions, and discouraging waiting times. With inflation hitting 1.9% monthly in September 2026, companies face an annual interest rate gap where the ten banks with the most deposits pay between 16% and 21% while beating inflation requires roughly 22% to 23%. This financial squeeze pushes firms toward capital markets, blockchain tokenization, and digital staking.

Capital Markets and Short-Term Financing Instruments

Businesses increasingly turn away from traditional banks to utilize the capital market for short-term instruments like deferred-payment checks, promissory notes, and electronic credit invoices. According to the Comisión Nacional de Valores, these instruments serve as a primary funding source for smaller companies. In August 2025, the agency issued RG 1079 to enable repo operations on these financial instruments to increase market liquidity and lower credit access costs.

Andrés Azicri, president and Chief Investment Officer of Vector Investments, notes that deferred-payment checks allow firms to anticipate funds through negotiation, while promissory notes structure financing across different terms. Additional tools include electronic credit invoices that turn accounts receivable into liquid funds, SME negotiable obligations for working capital or investments, and financial trusts built on company cash flows.

Reciprocal Guarantee Societies and Blockchain Avales

Reciprocal Guarantee Societies provide financial endorsements known as avales to help firms secure better credit terms. Data from the rating agency Untref ACR UP shows that the guarantee system issued 92,258 guarantees totaling $1,84 billones between January and May 2026. Risk evaluation involves analyzing repayment capacity, payment history, shareholder experience, and sector characteristics, according to Oscar Llano, vice president of Mills Capital SGR.

To modernize this framework, the Secretariat of Industry issued Resolution 94/2026 to ease foreign currency guarantees, authorize contracts with electronic signatures, and integrate blockchain technology into the guarantee process. Under the new rules, SGRs can back companies with future foreign currency revenues up to 50% of their available risk fund. Despite these technological updates, Llano argues that broader credit expansion requires lowering reserve requirements and interest rates alongside effective tools to manage debt delinquency.

Real-World Asset Tokenization and Dollar Staking

Tokenization represents real-world assets digitally on a blockchain, opening alternative funding routes outside the banking sector. The CNV established a regulatory framework for asset tokenization in late 2024 via RG 1.069. In April 2026, the RG 1.137 extended the regulatory sandbox until December 31, 2027. Joaquín Linares, CEO of Blockenfy, states that the process offers investors clear rules and traceability, though assets still carry underlying risks and secondary markets maintain low liquidity.

For companies holding dollar surpluses, digital staking offers another yield-generating mechanism by delegating digital assets to network security validators. Native staking involves delegating liquidity directly from a wallet without minimum amounts or penalties, though payouts take between 15 and 20 days.
