Amazon has cut prices on physical video game editions during its Prime sales event held on October

Amazon has cut prices on physical video game editions during its Prime sales event held on October 6 and 7, 2026, offering shoppers discounts on major Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 titles. While digital distribution continues to grow, hobbyconsolas.com reported that many players still prefer physical cartridges and keycards because they allow games to be lent to friends and family, saved to a physical shelf, and kept from filling up internal console storage.

Amazon Prime discounts on physical Nintendo games

The Prime sales event brings notable price reductions across a wide selection of physical Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 releases. Hobbyconsolas.com detailed several specific discounts for top Nintendo titles, including Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Legends: Z-A marked down to 51.90 euros from a recommended retail price of 69.99 euros, representing a 26 percent discount. Pokémon Pokopia is listed at 51.00 euros down from 69.99 euros, while Super Mario Party Jamboree drops to 46.90 euros from 59.99 euros. Additional markdowns include Yoshi and the mysterious book at 49.90 euros and Yooka Re-PlayLee at 39.90 euros.

Coverage from vandal.elespanol.com outlines an even broader catalog of discounted physical titles during the same promotional window. Vandal.elespanol.com reported that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for 43.99 euros, Super Mario Bros. Wonder for 39.49 euros, and Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition for 19.99 euros. Meanwhile, elperiodico.digital noted that physical editions for newer hardware iterations, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, are also seeing price adjustments alongside Mario Kart World.

Price comparisons across retail reporting

Discounts vary significantly depending on the specific retail tracking reported by each outlet. Vandal.elespanol.com highlighted that some games on Amazon reached prices roughly 30 percent lower than their lowest figures over the preceding 30 days, noting Super Mario Party Jamboree at 54.99 euros and Mario Tennis Fever at 52.99 euros. In contrast, hobbyconsolas.com focused its pricing analysis directly on recommended retail price drops for upcoming and recent exclusive software. Elperiodico.digital emphasized that buyers should verify version compatibility before purchasing physical items, as certain titles feature distinct packaging and cartridges specifically tailored for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

Gameplay styles represented in the sales event range from open-world explorations and farming simulations to multiplayer party titles. Hobbyconsolas.com pointed out that Pokémon Pokopia offers a cozy, management-focused experience, whereas Super Mario Party Jamboree targets living room gatherings with cooperative boards and minigames. Vandal.elespanol.com added that titles like Kirby Air Riders and Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars provide alternative multiplayer and retro experiences for collectors building physical libraries during the promotion.

Limited stock may sell out before October 7

Stock availability remains subject to change as the promotional event progresses. Vandal.elespanol.com cautioned that prices can fluctuate throughout the campaign and specific physical editions with limited inventory risk selling out before the sales window closes. Amazon’s Fiesta de Ofertas Prime concludes following its scheduled run on October 7, 2026.

Physical formats provide alternatives for Nintendo hardware

The selection includes some of Nintendo’s most recent releases, alongside well-known favorites. For players acquiring titles for the newer hardware generation, elperiodico.digital noted that physical formats offer a solid alternative for those seeking an exclusive adventure designed around Nintendo’s traditional level design, while also serving as a practical option for sharing the console with other players and setting up competitive matches. Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition introduces a distinct structure centered in Lumiose City, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition provides optimized technical improvements for returning users.
