Amazon MGM Studios to Adapt Gods of the Game as Film Trilogy

Amazon MGM Studios has secured the rights to adapt the best-selling sports romance series written by Ana Huang into a film trilogy. The adaptation will be based on the book series titled Gods of the Game.

According to reporting from Variety on April 9, 2026, the film series will explore the professional environment of English Premier League soccer. The original literary series is described as featuring inter-connected series of steamy romances set within the high-powered world of the sport.

Production and Development

The films will be produced for Amazon MGM Studios by Sherryl Clark and Liz Pelletier of Premeditated Productions. This development occurs under a first-look film and television deal between the production company and the studio.

Premeditated Productions is currently managing several other adaptations through its partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, including projects based on Dragon Cursed, A Stage Set for Villains, and Fourth Wing.

Source Material and Timeline

Amazon has acquired the rights to develop three films based on a specific set of novels from the series. The trilogy will cover the following titles:

• The Defender
• The Keeper

While The Striker and The Defender have already been released, the third book in the sequence, The Keeper, is scheduled to debut in October 2026.
