Amazon.com Inc. is committing more than $100 million to establish an advanced manufacturing site in Indiana as part of a heavy capital-spending push that includes raising its 2026 forecast to approximately $220 billion. The investment targets cloud computing, logistics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing capabilities, supported by strong revenue growth and increased corporate borrowing.
Capital Expenditure and Debt Financing
Amazon raised its capital-spending forecast for 2026 to about $220 billion to fund infrastructure for artificial intelligence and cloud computing. To help finance this capital-intensive buildout, the company tapped the UK bond market for the first time with a £4.25 billion pound-denominated bond offering.
Major cloud providers have collectively sold close to $220 billion in debt over the preceding twelve months. Amazon’s bond sale arrives as markets absorb a heavy volume of tech-sector debt, a dynamic that could increase the cost of future borrowings for the company.
Next-Gen Hardware and Delivery Technology
Management plans to roll out more than 20,000 AI Smart Delivery Glasses by the end of 2027. These glasses feature geospatial routing and precision mapping to direct drivers across delivery networks via a dedicated controller, eliminating the need to use mobile phones during deliveries.
In addition, Amazon is expanding its collaboration with NVIDIA by deploying two million additional graphics processing units. This deployment includes Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra GPUs slated for launch during 2027 and 2028, scaling up from an earlier plan for about one million GPUs in 2026.
Financial Performance and Institutional Sentiment
Underlying operational strength is reflected in the company’s financial results. During the second quarter of 2026, Amazon delivered $200.6 billion in total revenues, marking a 20% increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
Institutional sentiment remains solid, according to 13F filing data tracked by Insider Monkey across more than 1,000 hedge funds. By the end of the second quarter of 2026, 369 hedge funds held positions in the stock, up from 353 in the first quarter of 2026, while short interest hovered at 0.85%. BlackRock is the largest institutional stakeholder, holding 748.4 million shares or 6.94% of outstanding shares as of June 30, 2026, followed by Vanguard Capital Management and State Street Corporation with 5.89% and 3.68% respectively.
