Amazon Suspends Cargo Partnership After Fatal Miami Runway Collision

Amazon has suspended its logistics partnership with cargo carrier 21 Air following a fatal Sept. 6, 2026, runway accident in Miami, according to statements from company representatives.

The crash involved a Boeing 767 operated as Flight 7598. The aircraft was loaded with Amazon packages when it came in fast at Miami International Airport, according to the source.

All five individuals inside the van died in the collision, and five other people sustained injuries, the source reported. North Carolina-based 21 Air had flown cargo packages for Amazon since 2024, but the e-commerce giant decided to halt operations with the carrier while investigations proceed.

Evaluating Circumstances Behind the Suspension

Following the crash, Amazon evaluated the surrounding circumstances and coordinated with investigators, leading to the decision to suspend the carrier.

After the tragic incident last weekend, we’ve spent time supporting the investigation and reviewing some of the surrounding circumstances, and we’ve decided to pause our operations with 21 Air, the operator of Flight 7598. We’ll continue working to support the investigation and everyone affected.

Representatives for 21 Air did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding Amazon’s decision to suspend operations, the source reported.

Cockpit Audio and Approach Speed Warnings

Flight information released by the National Transportation Safety Board on Sept. 9, 2026, indicates that cockpit crew members recognized speed issues during the approach. One pilot warned their counterpart that the aircraft was moving too fast during the approach for landing and after touchdown, the source reported.
