AMD has released a new graphics driver update, Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2, alongside the announcement of its FSR Upscaling 4.1 technology. The update focuses on extending support for legacy hardware and optimizing performance for several upcoming high-profile gaming titles.
A primary component of the Adrenalin Edition 26.5.2 release is a targeted fix for the Radeon RX 400 and RX 500 series graphics cards. According to UNIKO’s Hardware, this update addresses stability and performance issues specifically encountered while playing Apex Legends.
The decision to provide specific fixes for hardware from these older series indicates a continued effort by AMD to maintain the usability of legacy devices as the company transitions to newer architectures.
Parallel to the driver release, AMD provided details regarding the rollout of FSR Upscaling 4.1. As reported by iThome, the new upscaling version is scheduled to support RDNA 3 architecture graphics cards starting in July 2026.
The reach of FSR 4.1 will extend beyond the most recent hardware. Ludens Media reports that the technology will be brought to older graphics cards, though the implementation timeline varies by device. Specifically, support for the Steam Deck is expected to arrive in 2027.
The new driver suite also includes optimizations for forthcoming software releases. GNN reports that the 26.5.2 update is designed to provide an optimized gaming experience for the launch of Forza Horizon 6 and a new 007-themed title.
FSR, or FidelityFX Super Resolution, is AMD’s upscaling technology designed to increase frame rates by rendering a game at a lower resolution and then upscaling the image to the native display resolution. The 4.1 iteration aims to further refine visual quality and performance efficiency.
By simultaneously updating legacy drivers and introducing new upscaling capabilities for RDNA 3 devices, AMD is addressing two different segments of its user base: those maintaining older hardware and those utilizing the latest high-performance GPUs.
