American Truck Simulator: Exploring Illinois DLC Settlements – Monmouth, Macomb & More!

Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator Showcases New Settlements

Fresh news from the Prairie State! SCS Software is offering a preview of the upcoming Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator, highlighting a selection of the 11 settlements players will be able to explore beyond the major cities.

The developers emphasize that the trucking experience isn’t solely about large urban centers, but also about the smaller towns encountered along the road. The Illinois DLC aims to capture this essence, offering a diverse range of landscapes from bustling cities to quiet countryside.

Monmouth: A Gateway to Illinois

One of the first towns players will encounter when entering Illinois from Iowa, Monmouth is located in western Illinois, northwest of Peoria. Established in 1831, it serves as the county seat of Warren County. The town’s economy is rooted in agriculture, and it’s known for its annual maple and beef festivals celebrating its rural heritage. In the game, Monmouth will be recognizable thanks to landmarks like the Warren County Courthouse and Monmouth City Hall.

Macomb: Home of “Macombopoly”

Continuing south along Route 67, players will arrive in Macomb, the county seat of McDonough County, established in 1829. Macomb is famous for “Macombopoly,” the world’s largest game of its kind, featuring oversized game pieces displayed around the McDonough County Courthouse. The game is a tribute to the classic board game Monopoly, created by a Macomb resident. The in-game recreation will include the courthouse and a statue commemorating this connection.

El Paso: A Railroad Hub with a Historic Landmark

Located at the junction of Interstate 39 and Route 24, El Paso is a small town with a population of just over 2,000. Historically, El Paso served as an important railroad hub. Its local freight depot, now an archbishop center, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been recreated in the game.

Chenoa: A Crossroads on Route 66

Chenoa, located in McLean County, lies along the historic Route 66. The game will feature a roadside attraction inspired by a real-world counterpart in Chenoa, paying homage to the iconic highway. Players will also find a recreation of a small, historic red wooden house, currently operating as a gift shop.

Gilman: “The City of the Crossroads”

Continuing on Route 24 from Chenoa, players will reach Gilman, nicknamed “The City of the Crossroads” due to its location at the intersection of Interstate 57, Route 24, and Route 45. This nickname is reflected on the town’s welcome sign both in real life and within the game.

Beardstown: “Belle of the Bend”

In the western part of the state lies Beardstown, historically known as the “Belle of the Bend” due to its location on a curve of the Illinois River. Founded in 1819 by Thomas Beard, who built a log cabin and traded with local Native Americans, the town’s history is deeply intertwined with the river.

Players interested in learning more about the Illinois DLC are encouraged to add it to their Steam wishlist. SCS Software invites fans to follow them on X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, and YouTube for further updates. They also suggest signing up for their newsletter.
