A north Minneapolis community is reeling after the city’s 26th homicide, a shooting near Folwell Park. Residents are expressing concern, especially after children playing soccer at a nearby summer camp were present Tuesday morning, unaware of Monday’s violence.
One man, identified as Young,a Good samaritan, stopped to help the child victim. The emotional toll has been meaningful. Young, accustomed to seeing ”gory stuff” from his rodeo experience, said the death of a child “kind of hits you.” He noted blood stains remained in his car Tuesday.
The Minneapolis shooting has deeply affected Young, who initially reacted with shock. He now feels sadness and grief. Despite his efforts, medics indicated to Young that his help came too late.Police thanked him and suggested he consider joining the force.
Young believes assisting victims of gun violence is a responsibility for those living in his area of Minneapolis. He stated,”I feel like that’s something that everybody should do if they’re able to.” The Folwell Park area homicide has sparked widespread concern.
