Derby Defeat Deepens Concerns
Manchester United suffered a complete 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, September 14, 2025, according to RTÉ Sport. A brace from Erling Haaland sealed the victory for City, exacerbating the pressure on United manager Ruben Amorim.
The result leaves Manchester United with a meager four points from their first four premier League games. This follows a disappointing 15th-place finish in the previous season, intensifying scrutiny of Amorim’s performance.
Unwavering Tactical Stance
Since arriving at Old Trafford in November,Amorim has maintained his tactical approach, even in the face of consistently poor results. He has won only eight league games during his tenure as United boss.
Addressing reporters in a post-match press conference, Amorim stated, “It is indeed not a record we should have at Manchester United. I accept that but I am not going to change.” He further indicated that he would only consider altering his philosophy if the club were to dismiss him. “When I want to change my philosophy I will,” he added, implying that such a decision would be made only under duress.
