Fire at Chenggong State House in Taipei
A fire broke out at the Chenggong State House located in Da’an District, Taipei City early in the morning on December 1, 2024. The incident occurred around 4:49 a.m. and caused significant damage to furniture and other items in the building.
The Taipei City Police received a report about the fire at 4:14 a.m. They quickly dispatched a total of 45 rescue personnel, including four command vehicles, 17 fire engines, and four ambulances. The emergency response team worked to evacuate people and assist firefighters in controlling traffic around the site.
Initial investigations indicate that the fire originated from the apartment on the 16th floor. Among those affected, a 53-year-old man named Qiu was found without a heartbeat. He was transported to Cathay Pacific Hospital for emergency surgery, but sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries. His 19-year-old son was also taken for treatment.
The fire burned an area of about 10 square meters, destroying various possessions within the apartment. The precise cause of the fire is still under investigation.
