Bollywood star Ananya Panday recently opened up about a surprising reason she avoided watching her father,veteran actor Chunky Panday’s,movies during her childhood.
In a candid interview with We Are Yuvaa, Ananya confessed that she was frequently enough “traumatized” by his on-screen deaths.
“I used to not watch much as I would get very scared that you were going to die in the movie,” she shared. “I remember when I was young and saw D Company, and suddenly you got shot and died in the movie. I thoght it was actually happening, even though you were sitting right next to me. I was traumatized, so I didn’t watch too many of your movies because I thought you were going to die in all of them.”
Ananya’s revelation sheds light on the unique challenges faced by children of actors, who often blur the lines between fiction and reality.
From Massy Films to Exploring Depth
Ananya, who has carved her own niche in Bollywood, also discussed her acting journey. She admitted that her initial inspiration stemmed from the “massy, commercial” films she grew up watching, a genre heavily influenced by her father’s work.
“When I wanted to become an actor, I thought a lot like you because the kind of movies that I watched were those massy, commercial ones. I still love those! That was all I could see. I didn’t know there was anything else to do. That’s problably in my DNA,” she explained.However, Ananya credits director Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan for pushing her to explore a more nuanced approach to acting.
“It was only when I did Gehraiyaan, Shakun really forced me to think like an actor. I enjoyed that process so much. Going forward, I wont to do that mix of both,” she added.
Ananya’s recent projects, including Vikramaditya Motwane’s CTRL and the web series Call Me Bae, showcase her versatility and commitment to exploring diverse roles. she is set to star alongside Lakshya in the upcoming film Chand Mera Dil.
