Iran has issued a stark warning to foreign investors with assets in the United States, urging them to withdraw their funds immediately amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The warning, delivered by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, comes as regional instability raises concerns over potential restrictions on access to American assets.

Speaking on the matter, Qalibaf stated that access to U.S. Assets could be tightened if tensions continue to rise, directly linking the warning to deteriorating bilateral relations and regional instability. He urged investors to take immediate risk mitigation steps before the situation worsens further and opportunities to withdraw capital close.

The warning follows broader Iranian threats targeting financial instruments tied to U.S. Military funding. Earlier in March, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also referenced in Iranian legislative circles, declared that financial institutions holding U.S. Government bonds—including Treasury securities—would be considered legitimate targets. He claimed that purchasing such bonds equates to financing attacks against Iran, framing them as “stained with the blood of the Iranian people.”

These financial threats emerged in response to a 48-hour ultimatum issued by former U.S. President Donald Trump demanding Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global energy trade. Trump warned that failure to comply could lead to U.S. Strikes on Iranian power plants, a move potentially capable of crippling the nation’s infrastructure. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swiftly voiced full support for the U.S. Position.

Market analysts have noted that ongoing geopolitical uncertainty continues to influence investor behavior, with capital flows remaining sensitive to conflict developments and inflation trends. Some observers project that global interest rates may remain elevated for an extended period, while oil prices stay volatile due to Middle Eastern instability, reinforcing the perception that U.S.-Iran tensions will remain a primary driver of market volatility.

Despite these risks, there are signs of cautious return to certain emerging markets. Analysts have observed that while foreign investment in Indonesia’s stock market has not yet turned aggressive, there is a gradual, selective inflow as investors await greater clarity on global economic direction and macroeconomic stability.

As of April 25, 2026, no official restrictions on foreign access to U.S. Assets have been enacted, but Iranian officials continue to emphasize the readiness to use financial leverage as part of its broader strategy to counter U.S. And Israeli pressure.
