Anchorage Digital is reducing its active leadership role in the Global Dollar Network to shift toward a neutral stance on individual stablecoins. The company is moving to become a white-label stablecoin issuer for a broader range of firms, CoinDesk reported May 11, 2026, citing an interview with Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley.

The strategic pivot follows a partnership established on April 30, 2026, between Anchorage and the stablecoin issuance platform M0. This collaboration is designed to combine the infrastructure capabilities of M0 with the regulated issuance experience of Anchorage to serve various stablecoin builders.

Anchorage currently has a pipeline of 20 firms that the company will assist in issuing stablecoins.

McCauley indicated that while the company remains a member of the Global Dollar Network and supports its success, it will no longer occupy as prominent a role.

We’re still supportive of [Global Dollar Network] and want to see it succeed, and are still part of the thing, but maybe not as up-front of a role as before. Nathan McCauley

The decision to adopt a neutral position is intended to avoid misaligned incentives as the company expands its issuance and custody business.

It just makes sense to be neutral and not specifically be pushing any one stablecoin. Nathan McCauley

Global Dollar Network Background

The Global Dollar Network was established in November 2024 as a consortium of crypto and FinTech companies. The group’s objective is to accelerate the worldwide use of stablecoins and promote an asset that provides proportionate economic benefits to its partners.

As part of this effort, the consortium introduced USDG, a joint stablecoin pegged to the U.S. Dollar.

Regarding the partnership with M0, McCauley stated on April 30, 2026, that stablecoin adoption is expanding across a wider range of platforms and use cases. He noted that the collaboration extends the company’s issuance platform to support that growth while maintaining the security, operational, and regulatory standards relied upon by partners.

Cashless Reserves Model

On May 5, 2026, Anchorage announced that it is exploring a stablecoin issuance model known as Cashless Reserves. This model is designed to offer institutional stablecoin issuers improved security, capital efficiency, and liquidity.

The Cashless Reserves framework would rely on just-in-time liquidity to meet redemption demands, which the company says will optimize treasury management and yield opportunities.

McCauley stated on May 5, 2026, that stablecoins are becoming core financial infrastructure, but he noted that the underlying financial system needs to evolve to meet the needs of digital assets.
