Anchorage residents have a wide array of events to choose from this weekend, ranging from comedy festivals and live music to theatrical performances and fundraising events. The Alaska B4UDIE Comedy Festival kicks off Thursday and runs through April 4th, featuring dozens of comedians at venues across Anchorage and other Alaskan cities, including Homer, Seward, and Talkeetna.
For those interested in the performing arts, Kevin Smith, the filmmaker known for “Clerks” and “Mallrats,” will be performing at the Discovery Theatre on Thursday and Friday. Tickets start at $57.50. Cyrano’s Theatre Company is also presenting “With Love and a Major Organ” from Friday through Sunday, described as an exploration of love in the age of technology. Tickets for this production are $35, or $30 for students, seniors, and military personnel.
Fundraising and Music Events
Several events are dedicated to fundraising for important causes. A fundraiser for the victims of ex-Typhoon Halong will be held Friday at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, featuring a silent auction, spaghetti feed, Alaska Native dance performances, and other activities. Admission is free. Also on Saturday, Williwaw Social will host “Relief for Western Alaska,” a music-filled fundraiser with performances from Hope Social Club, Shawn Picaro, Roland Roberts Band, Quinn Christopherson, and many more. Kid-friendly events will be held from 2-6 p.m., with an afterparty DJ set starting at 11 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Music lovers have several options. Club Nyt Lyt will host “Dog Yard Fest” on Friday and Saturday, featuring a lineup including Diles Que No Me Maten (Mexico City), Turbo Hell, Evil Wizard, Lilac, Ni-Hao! (Kyoto, Japan), Fear Boner (Juneau), Circle of Salt, and Vital. Tickets are $33.85 for one night or $55.20 for both. The Anchorage Civic Orchestra will present its Fall Concert on Saturday at the Sydney Laurence Theatre, featuring works by Berlioz, Rodrigo, and Beethoven.
Other Weekend Activities
For those seeking a more active weekend, the Rage City Roller Derby will present its sixth annual Brewery Brawl on Saturday at O’Malley Sports Center, with Double Shovel Cider and Ravens Ring Brewing competing for bragging rights. Tickets are around $15 for adults and $7 for kids 5-12.
