The Andover Recreation Department and the Andover Soccer Association are joining forces to host their inaugural golf tournament on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover, Massachusetts, according to official event announcements. The joint fundraiser aims to tackle chronic field shortages and maintenance backlogs that impact thousands of local athletes and students.

Tournament Logistics and Registration Details

Registration for the scramble-style tournament opens at 11:15 AM, followed by a shotgun start at 1:00 PM, according to the Andover Recreation Department. The entry fee is set at $250 per golfer, with checks made payable to Andover Recreation. Participants will receive an 18-hole scramble format alongside carts, a luncheon, dinner, prizes, and a $10 Pro Shop gift allowance, according to event details. Organizers note that every group must use two drives from each member of the foursome. Awards will be given to the top three places overall, as well as for long drive, closest to the pin, and closest second shot. Additional incentives include a $10,000 hole-in-one major prize, hole-in-one prizes on all par 3s, and a $10,000 60-foot putting contest. Businesses or individuals interested in sponsoring a hole for $225 can contact event organizers via email at joseph.connelly@andoverma.us, according to the Andover Recreation Department.

Addressing Andover Field Shortages and Maintenance Needs

All net proceeds from the tournament will go directly toward field and facility improvements, a priority goal shared by both sponsoring organizations, according to the Andover Recreation Department. The town’s recreation department operates almost entirely as a self-supporting entity, generating over 96 percent of its operating and maintenance costs through program fees, donations, and special events to keep facilities accessible and affordable. Similarly, the Andover Soccer Association operates as the largest youth sport organization in the community, serving over 2,000 youth annually between the ages of 6 and 18 through an all-volunteer board of directors and coaching staff. Organizers point out that more than 6,000 youth and adult athletes utilize local fields each year, alongside an additional 6,000 public school students who use outdoor spaces every school day. Years of high demand have created persistent challenges with available field space and the ability to properly rest and maintain turf, making the proceeds from the upcoming tournament a vital resource for local infrastructure renovations.
