Andre Lotterer Eyes Rallying Future After WRC Experience
Updated June 04, 2025
Three-time le Mans 24 Hours winner Andre Lotterer is considering a future in rallying after experiencing a World Rally Championship (WRC) car. Lotterer, a lifelong rally fan, recently had the opportunity thanks to reigning world champion Thierry neuville.
Neuville’s LifeLive Motorsport team hosted an event in France, inviting Lotterer to test rally machinery on a closed asphalt stage. Lotterer drove Neuville’s historic BMW M3 rally car and a Citroen DS3 WRC car from 2012.

“It has always been a dream of mine to try a WRC car,” Lotterer said. He praised the Citroen’s sequential gearbox and suspension. “Instantly you feel how agile the car is,” he added, noting the car’s controlled adaptability.
Lotterer also rode as a passenger with Neuville in a 2021 WRC hyundai i20 Coupe.

“it is crazy and mind-blowing,” Lotterer said of the experience. “It is very extraordinary how they [the drivers] control in such tight spaces, and the speeds.”
I trust him [thierry] but it is hard to believe that we are going to go through that corner at that speed, and I’m someone who is used to high speed. I’m used to seeing this happen in a certain logical way, but it shocked me even more.

Earlier this year, Lotterer participated in the Legend Boucles à Bastogne rally in belgium, driving a historic Porsche 911 SC. Neuville also competed, driving the M3 Lotterer later tested.
What’s next
while focused on his sportscar commitments with Genesis and the upcoming Le Mans 24 Hours, Lotterer is eager to explore future rally events and a potential Dakar Rally program. He stated he’d like to do more rallying in the future, and expressed interest in the Dakar Rally, citing its “endurance aspect and the whole adventure.”
