André Onana: The Goalkeeper Holding the Key to FECAFOOT’s Adidas Deal

André Onana: The Goalkeeper Holding the Key to FECAFOOT’s Adidas Deal

September 17, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor News

Negotiations between the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and German equipment manufacturer Adidas, which initially seemed promising, have stalled, we learn.

Indeed, FECAFOOT, who are looking for a new equipment supplier to outfit the famous Indomitable Lions, have set their sights on Adidas. Except that the negotiations with the German brand that started a few weeks ago are more complicated than we thought.

According to our colleagues from CFOOT magazine, the two parties postponed their talks due to a major disagreement over the choice of the brand’s “progressive muse” among the Indomitable Lions. Although Adidas required André Onana to be the face of this collaboration, FECAFOOT would like to see another player take on this role. A disagreement which according to CFOOT led to a deadlock in the negotiations.

It should be noted that André Onana and Adidas have had a long-standing relationship. Playing for prestigious clubs such as Manchester United and Ajax Amsterdam, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has

Samuel Eto’o, president of FECAFOOT, is not ready to include André Onana in the negotiations, with whom tensions have increased.

After Le Coq Sportif, and then the break with One All Sports, FECAFOOT is therefore in a vulnerable position. The Cameroon body should try to establish a new partnership with a new brand, while navigating the troubled waters of internal relations.
